Let me tell you why its important to have only the best AI notetaker. When I first tried an AI note-taker, I thought it would be a game-changer. Instead, it was a total mess—misheard words, poor voice recognition, and syncing issues that made me want to pull my hair out. (choosing poorly working AI Note takers double d my work). I needed a meeting tool that could do it all: organize notes, provide a good summary of the meeting that catches the moments accurately, identify the tasks given to me, note the decisions, and even talk to me about the meetings I had, to get insights.
I want my meeting tool to be my personal assistant so I can finally put my legs up and just chill while the tool takes all my notes because, let’s face it, we forget stuff and sometimes can be heavily disorganized 😅.
But today, I’m setting the bar high and putting these tools through an extreme test to find out which is the best meeting tool to make your life a breeze. I chose one of the toughest videos to transcribe, and I'll explain why in Test #1.
Spoiler alert: This video is a transcription nightmare! It’s got everything:
- Crowd cheers: non-stop background noise and cheering.
- Seven Speakers: Different Accents and Speaking Styles.
- Two Hard-to-Spell Surnames: Spelling bee level hard.
- Random Tasks: Tasks flying around in the conversation.
- Random Objects: Unexpected objects are being mentioned.
- Deep Conversations: Talks about regrets and milestones.
Can these AI meeting tools handle this meeting note taking challenge? Let’s find out, shall we?
Quick Comparison Table: Who Won?
Before we get started, let me show you the test results! Yes, we do not want to waste your time by asking you to go through every test analysis, so we made the comparison table below, but you are more than welcome to look through every challenge results and its score further down in the article.
Enjoy!!

Test 01: Meeting Summary and Notes Transcription Accuracy
To test transcription accuracy, we used the Shark Tank interview on Good Morning America. This video was ideal because it includes:
- Audience Commotion
- Background noise and cheering challenge the tool's ability to filter out non-speech sounds.
- Multiple Speakers
- Hosts and five sharks talking simultaneously test speaker identification capabilities.
- Dynamic Sound Levels
- Variations in volume assess the tool’s ability to maintain accuracy despite changes in sound levels.
These challenges are crucial because they mirror real-world meeting scenarios where background noise, multiple speakers, and varying sound levels are common. A good transcription tool should handle these elements effectively to provide clear and accurate transcriptions.

Here's what we are greeted with:
- Executive Summary
- Meeting Notes
- Decisions
- Tasks
- Participants
Let's see how accurate the executive summary is.
Executive Summary
✅Shark Tank is an extremely successful and award-winning TV show, with the Sharks having a unique and dynamic chemistry.
✅The show represents the American Dream and inspires entrepreneurship, especially among young people.
✅The Sharks discussed memorable pitches, including missed opportunities and unexpected successes.
✅ In a challenge to pitch obsolete items, Barbara Corcoran was chosen as the winner for her creative and humorous pitches.
Comment: This is such an amazing summary, even though I included the speaker name manually as Barbara, jamie captured the correct full name of Barbara Corcoran precisely. That's a plus for me! If you want to take a sneak peek at the speaker identification that I manually entered, here is a snippet of it.
Next, let's take a look at the meeting notes Jamie transcribed.
Meeting notes
✅ Introduction to Shark Tank
- ✅ Shark Tank is an extremely successful TV show that has run for 11 seasons and over 200 episodes, winning 4 Emmy awards
- ✅ The Sharks—Mark Cuban, Barbara Corcoran, Lori Greiner, Kevin O'Leary, and Robert Herjavec—have a unique, dynamic, and at times combative chemistry
- ✅ Laurie says they're like "one big dysfunctional family"—they may fight one minute but then go have a drink together afterwards
Comment: Again, extremely impressive catching up the shark's full name! Way to go, Jamie!
Comment: You can also see that I misspelled Lori and wrote Laurie instead in the speaker identification section, but jamie successfully identified it to be Lori Greiner.
✅ The American Dream and Shark Tank
- ✅ Kevin says Shark Tank is a representation of the American Dream, which is why people came to America in the first place and will keep coming
- ✅ The show inspires people, especially kids, to start their own businesses and pursue entrepreneurship (Mark)
- ✅ It gets people of all ages excited about starting businesses and shows them how to do it (Mark)
- ✅ It gives people hope (Mark)
- ❌ Barbara adds that everybody thinks they have one good business idea, and Shark Tank allows the dream to come true
I love that Jamie puts the speaker's name after the sentences within parentheses, helping us identify which speaker said what. However, the last point does have flaws. Barbara does say, "Everybody thinks they have a good business idea, but it was Lori who said, "A shark tank allows the dream to come true."
✅ Memorable Pitches and Missed Opportunities
- ❌ Barbara (Kevin O'Leary) talks about regretting not investing in the "Comfy" product, which ended up being a huge success, making $250 million in sales
- ✅ He says he initially thought the smiley face sponge that Lori Greiner invested in was a stupid idea, but it ended up being a $200 million business
Comment: Unfortunately the first point has minute errors, One is that Barbara is clearly not Kevin O'Leary, and she was talking about the sponge product, though the sponge product's name was clearly not mentioned (Scrub Daddy), One of Barbara's company she invested was mentioned and that was "Comfy". Which can be a reason why confusion must have arisen.
Comment: Second point: though everything is correct, the pronouns are not unfortunately. Its supposed to be "she," but since its a minor error, let's not mark it cross.
✅ Shark Tank Challenge: "Jump the Shark Tank"
- ✅ The Sharks are each assigned an obsolete item: a fax machine, rotary phone, tape recorder, and CD player
- ✅ They have 15 seconds to pitch and sell these items to the audience
- ❌ Mark (Kevin) pitches the fax machine as a great way to destroy it when you get mad
- ✅ Barbara (Barbara) pitches the rotary phone as a weight to get rid of "chicken fat" and also a weapon to throw at a cheating boyfriend
- ✅ Laurie (Lori) struggles to come up with a good pitch for the tape recorder, suggesting using it to record sentimental memories or for political reasons
- ❌ Kevin (Robert) gives an enthusiastic pitch for the CD player, highlighting how it's an upgrade from vinyl records, doesn't scratch, is portable, and the music sounds amazing
Comment:The humour is perfectly captured in Barbara's pitch which is amazing!
Comment: To be honest, I find it astounding how jamie was able to recognize that Lori was having trouble coming up with a strong pitch. It was not mentioned in the video; if you watch it, you will not hear her admit she is having trouble, but she does make some indications with her words. Jamie did an amazing job at identifying emotions through word analysis.
Comment: Mark does pitch the fax machine; however in the paragraphs, jamie has mentioned Kevin, which is incorrect. Hence, unfortunately, I had to cross it out.
Comment: Same goes to the last point, It was indeed Kevin who gave the pitch for the CD player but jamie had put (Robert) inside the parentheses.
✅ The Winner of the Challenge
- ✅ The audience chooses Barbara (Barbara Corcoran) as the winner of the "Jump the Shark Tank" challenge for her creative and humorous pitches for the rotary phone
Comment: Amazing job overall! and also ending the meeting notes with the conclusion that Barbara won the shark tank challenge.
⭐ Overall Score: 9.5/10
Here's the evaluation:
Meeting Summary
Score: 9.5/10
- Accuracy: captured key points and essence accurately.
- Speaker Identification: Correctly identified speakers most of the time.
- Detail: a thorough overview with minimal missing information.
- Minor Errors: small misattributions of quotes.
Meeting Notes
- Score: 9.5/10
- Detail: Detailed notes with introductions, pitches, and humor.
- Speaker Identification: Generally correct, but some mix-ups.
- Contextual Understanding: Captured humor and emotion well.
- Errors: Some misattributions and pronoun errors.
Jamie has done a profoundly amazing job at providing reliable transcriptions and identifying speakers, making it a strong tool for both professional and personal use.
Otter.ai Transcription
Next Let us examine the meeting summary and note the transcription accuracy provided by Otter.ai.
Right after the transcription ends, I am immediately greeted with this interface. If you want to check out the full summary overview on otter.ai, please click here.
Here's what we are presented with:
- Summary
- Action Items (we will get to action items and decisions in the next test)
- Insights
- Outline
Let's analyze them one by one, starting off with the following:
Summary Paragraph
❌ On Shark Tank, the sharks discuss and debate various innovative ideas presented to them, including a fax machine, tape recorder, vinyl records, rotary phone, smiley sponge, and Rolodex. Each speaker shares their unique perspective on the pitched items, highlighting their potential for success or failure in the market. The Sharks offer valuable insights and critiques, providing a lively and informative discussion.
Comment: Unfortunately the shark didn't get a smiley sponge for the pitch. This summary is also way off from what was intended. The summary says the fax machines, tape recorders, vinyl records, rotary phones, smiley sponge and Rolodex are innovative ideas presented to the sharks. But they were pitches for the challenge called Jump the Shark Tank Challenge. With that, its clear that the summary is inaccurate for the video. Let's compare Jamie's notes for Compenson.
Jamie's note revisited for comparison
✅ The Sharks were assigned the following items to pitch: Mark's fax machine, Barbara's rotary phone, Laurie's tape recorder, Kevin's CD player, and Robert's address book.
Comment: You can see how clearly Jamie has captured the pitching items and figured out the assignees names for each items.
Insights
❌ No mention is made for the following insights:
❌ Decisions made, Issues & Risks, Next steps, Questions discussed, Timeline
Comment: The sharks clearly talked a lot about issues and risks. If you watched the video, Barbara talked about how Lori took the risk of getting into the sponge deal, and she didn't want to take the risk. Maybe they didn't explicitly mention risk, but it was a context in which they talked about taking risks.
Comment: The hosts clearly asked a lot of questions from each shark, One of the questions I remember the host asking was whether there was a deal that they regret not taking it, in which Barbara talked about the sponge deal (scrub daddy). Unfortunately, Otter.ai failed at generating accurate insights.
Outline
✅ Shark Tank, with entrepreneurs pitching their ideas.
✅ Mark Cuban and Barbara Corcoran discuss the enduring appeal of Shark Tank, highlighting its ability to inspire hope and encourage entrepreneurship.
❌ The sharks share their most memorable pitches, including the infamous smiley sponge that later became a successful product.
Comment: Incorrect: The sharks discussed their most regrettable missed investments, not memorable pitches. Lori secured the deal with the smiley sponge.
❌ Speakers pitch obsolete items, including a fax machine, rotary phone, tape recorder, and baseball bat.
Comment: Incorrect: There was no mention of a baseball bat in the video.
❌ ✅ Speakers discuss music formats, memories, and a contest winner named Barbara.
Comment: Incorrect: No discussion about music formats. The correct conclusion should be that Barbara won the contest.
Comment: Honestly this summary is quite disappointing; i expected a lot more from the Otter.AI. This summary is lacking in depth and skips over key moments like Barbara's hilarious chicken wings pitch and Lori's emotional struggle to figure out how to do the pitch. These gaps make the summary less accurate and engaging compared to Jamie's detailed meeting notes. Getting accurate transcriptions and capturing the full context, especially the important moments and emotions, is crucial for nailing effective meeting summaries. and unfortunately, Otter.ai failed at meeting notes.
⭐ Overall Score: 4/10
Meeting Summary
Score: 3/10
- Accuracy: Many errors, including wrong items and discussions.
- Speaker Identification: Incorrect speaker attributions.
- Detail: Missed important moments and lacked depth.
- Errors: Major mistakes like mentioning a baseball bat and wrong pitch discussions.
Meeting Notes
Score: 5/10
- Detail: I captured some notes but missed a lot.
- Speaker Identification: Mixed, some right and some wrong.
- Contextual Understanding: Missed key moments like Barbara's pitch and Lori's struggle.
- Errors: misattributions and missed discussions about risks and host questions.
Otter.ai's transcription has many errors and missing important details, making it less reliable for professional use.
Fireflies AI Transcription
It is finally time to see if Fireflies, at the very least, lives up to its reputation. Let us go!
It is also important to note that I am unable to show you an image that fully summarizes the meeting notes because of the amount of space inside the Fireflies meeting summary page. But if you want to take a full look at the meeting summaries, please do click here
Let's start off with an overview
✅ The meeting titled 'Shark Tank' hosts showcased their ability to sell effectively, with discussions on the show's success, impact, missed opportunities, and a fun pitching game. Hosts introduced themselves and highlighted the show's success with 11 seasons, over 200 episodes, and 4 Emmy wins. They discussed the show's impact on inspiring entrepreneurship and shared their camaraderie outside the show.
❌ They also talked about pitches they regret not investing in, such as the smiley sponge and the comfy.
✅ In the pitching game, hosts humorously pitched obsolete items, with Barbara Corcoran declared as the winner.
Comment: Okay, I actually love this overview, it captures everything discussed in one paragraph. However, there was a minor mistake, as "Comfy" was a company Barbara invested in and it is not a missed opportunity. Fireflies have accurately captured the overview of the video.
Next up is:
Notes
✅ 📺 Introduction to Shark Tank (00:00 - 00:40)
Comment: I like the inclusion of emojis by Fireflies, referring to the titles of the various sections in the summary. Also, the inclusion of time taps is pretty cool too!
❌ Introduction of Shark Tank hosts: Mark Cuban, Barbara Corcoran, Lori Grenada, Kevin O'Leary, and Robert Hercavec
Comment: Though the hosts are identified, the names spelt are unfortunately wrong in some of guests. If you go back and check on Jamie's speaker identification, the speaker identification was spot on. Unfortunately for Fireflies it was not spot on.
✅ Discussion on the success of Shark Tank: 11 seasons, over 200 episodes, 4 Emmy wins
✅ Kevin O'Leary explains the show's appeal as an American dream and its family-friendly nature
💡 Show's Impact and Chemistry (00:40 - 01:40)
✅ Discussion on the show's impact on inspiring entrepreneurship across all age groups
✅ Hosts share their camaraderie and bond outside the show despite on-screen rivalries
😱 Missed Opportunities (01:40 - 02:20)
✅ Hosts discuss pitches they regret not investing in, particularly the smiley sponge and the comfy
❌ Kevin O'Leary expresses regret over not investing in the smiley sponge, which became highly successful
Comment: Fireflies understood that they were talking about missed opportunities. Jamie also did a wonderful job at identifying that the sharks were talking about missed opportunities, but Otter.AI, on the other hand, did not unfortunately mention that factor.
Comment: It wasn't Kevin who expressed regret, it was Barbara. Otter.I failed to mention this at all; it was not in any of the meeting notes. Jamie, however, did mention this almost accurately; this was what Jamie generated:
- ❌ Barbara (Kevin O'Leary) talks about regretting not investing in the "Comfy" product, which ended up being a huge success, making $250 million in sales
Though Jamie identified Barbara, the mention of Kevin O'Leary reduced the accuracy slightly; it also mentions "Comfy," which should be the smiley sponge. It should be noted that Jamie and Fireflies did an excellent job of identifying and including this factor in their summary. Jamie also additionally included the amount they made in sales too, counting up to $250 million in sales, which Fireflies or Otters could not do.
🎤 Jump the Shark Tank Game (02:20 - 05:00)
✅ Hosts participate in a fun game where they pitch obsolete items
✅ Mark Cuban pitches a fax machine humorously
✅ Barbara Corcoran pitches a rotary phone as a multifunctional item
✅ Lori Grenada pitches a tape recorder with mixed success
✅ Kevin O'Leary pitches a Walkman, emphasizing its retro appeal
✅ Robert Hercavec pitches a Rolodex, highlighting its sentimental value
Comment: Although these a technically correct, it lacks the human touch to the summary. If you go back and check Jamie's generated meeting notes, you can see the depth to which it has gone to identify emotions, humor, and sarcasm, which gives the summaries some life. Fireflies have identified the information correctly, but it is more generic and plain. Just check out Jamie's summary on this matter again.
Jamie's note revisited for comparison
- ✅ Barbara (Barbara) pitches the rotary phone as a weight to get rid of "chicken fat" and also a weapon to throw at a cheating boyfriend
- ✅ Laurie (Lori) struggles to come up with a good pitch for the tape recorder, suggesting using it to record sentimental memories or for political reasons
You can clearly see how well Jamie actually captured the "moment," some would say. Its refreshing to go back to moment where we relive the fun and awkward moments in our meetings. jamie clearly gets the biggest points from me solely because of this factor.
🏆 Game Winner Announcement (05:00 - 05:20)
The audience votes for the best pitch in the game
✅ Barbara Corcoran is declared the winner of the Jump the Shark Tank game
⭐ Overall Score: 7/10
Meeting Summary
Score: 7/10
- Accuracy: I captured most key points but made some errors.
- Error: Misrepresented the "comfy" investment as a missed opportunity. Fireflies incorrectly stated that the Sharks talked about regretting not investing in the "Comfy" product, while Barbara actually invested in it.
- Correction: "They also talked about pitches they regret not investing in, such as the smiley sponge." should have been: "They talked about pitches they regret not investing in, with the smiley sponge being a notable example."
- Speaker Identification: Correctly identified speakers but made notable mistakes.
- Error: Incorrectly identified Kevin O'Leary instead of Barbara for discussing the smiley sponge.
- Correction: The summary should have stated, "Barbara expressed regret over not investing in the smiley sponge."
- Detail: generally thorough but missing specific names and sales figures.
- Error: Did not include the detailed sales figures mentioned by Barbara.
- Correction: "Barbara discussed how the smiley sponge turned into a $250 million business."
Meeting Notes
Score: 7/10
- Detail: Captured detailed notes with timestamps and emojis, enhancing readability.
- Error: Incorrect spelling of names such as Lori Greiner and Robert Herjavec.
- Correction: "Introduction of Shark Tank hosts: Mark Cuban, Barbara Corcoran, Lori Greiner, Kevin O'Leary, and Robert Herjavec."
- Speaker Identification: mixed performance, with some correct identifications but several errors.
- Error: Misattributed statements to the wrong speakers.
- Correction: I should have identified Barbara correctly when discussing the missed investment in the smiley sponge.
- Contextual Understanding: Lacked depth in capturing humor and emotion.
- Error: I did not capture the humorous pitch about chicken wings by Barbara or Lori's struggle.
- Correction: Should have included: "Barbara humorously pitched the rotary phone as a weight to get rid of 'chicken fat' and a weapon to throw at a cheating boyfriend. Lori struggled to come up with a pitch for the tape recorder."
- Errors: incorrectly identified speakers and missed capturing the emotional context of pitches.
- Error: Incorrectly identified Kevin O'Leary's pitch instead of Mark Cuban's.
- Correction: "Mark Cuban humorously pitched the fax machine."
Fireflies AI provided a good level of detail but fell short in accuracy and capturing the full context, making it less engaging compared to Jamie.
Analysis Overview
Fireflies AI:
- Accuracy: missed key points and mixed up speakers.
- Detail: Timestamps and emojis were nice, but some names were wrong and missed specific details.
- Context: I didn't capture the humor or emotions well.
Jamie:
- Accuracy: Very accurate, with correct speaker identification and detailed notes.
- Detail: Thorough and included everything important.
- Context: captured humor and emotions, making the notes engaging.
Otter AI:
- Accuracy: Lots of mistakes and wrong details.
- Detail: Missed important parts and didn't go deep enough.
- Context: Failed to capture the essence and emotions of the meeting.
Scores
- Fireflies AI: 7/10
- jamie: 9.5/10
- Otter AI: 4/10
Jamie is the clear winner, providing the most accurate and detailed notes with a good grasp of the meeting's context and emotions.
Test 02: Accuracy of Capturing Action Items and Decisions
Let's start of with jamie, the undefeated contender so far.
Jamie
Let's see the accuracy of the information one by one.
✅ The Sharks participated in a "Jump the Shark Tank" game where they had to pitch obsolete items in 15 seconds.
✅ The Sharks were assigned the following items to pitch: Mark's fax machine, Barbara's rotary phone, Laurie's tape recorder, Kevin's CD player, and Robert's address book.
✅ Barbara Corcoran was declared the winner of the "Jump the Shark Tank" contest by the audience.
All the decisions are fantastically input, not one error insight! Well done, Jamie!!
Next up is:
Otter.ai
Well....
If cricket noises needed a cue, now would be the perfect time for it. I'm just as shocked as you would be right now. Otter.ai might need alot of improvements on their AI meeting notes, and fast!
Next up, a good contender,
Fireflies.ai
Hm, Unfortunately, you have to pay to see them.
I get that they want to try something innovative and want to include different aspects, like
- Data and Time
- Metrics
- Questions
- Pricing
- Tasks
I am aware that Fireflies is making an effort to be creative by offering a variety of options to view various metrics or data. But the decisions and tasks, at the very least, ought to be free, in my opinion. Because it is essential to one's daily life and work. At the very least, a certain percentage of the premium options should be offered without charge. Only paid members are able to view the filters. 😓
⭐ Just fyi, all the information that I provided you on Jamie is via a free account, yes! all the premium features are available in the free account. Except the "ask jamie and executive assistant" feature, everything else is available for you to give it a try! Jamie is yours for five meetings of up to thirty minutes each, since you have five free meeting credits.
