I spent a lot of time trying out Gong vs Avoma. And I wanted to see whether both tools are worth your time. Gong is an AI tool that provides sales analytics, and it's very good at it. However, I was quite shocked at the price point.
Avoma is an AI tool that helps you manage meetings. And I was a little uncomfortable with the bots joining in my meetings (and other users I spoke to also felt that way). However, Avoma has some neat sales features as well. That we will be getting into further down the article.
We will be digging through all the features Gong and Avoma has to offer. And in the meantime, we will also be introducing our own tool into the mix. And that's Jamie!
Jamie is also an AI meeting assistant and a powerful conversation intelligence software that helps you transcribe, summarize, and organize your meetings seamlessly. It does not have bots to join your meetings and you can use it offline or online to transcribe.
I have done all the hard work to compare these tools for you. And I will tell you about what I found out, from the main differences to what real users say about them.
So stay tuned, and I will help you find the perfect AI assistant just for you.
TL;DR:
- Jamie provides you with bot-free AI meeting notes, works offline for transcription, and also works as your real-time assistant. It's great for flexible and private note-taking.
- Gong is really built for sales teams. It has some advanced AI functionality for revenue forecasting and deal analytics, but (as you might expect) it's quite expensive.
- Avoma does a decent job of handling your meeting transcription, scheduling, and AI notes. So it's a very good tool if you need structured meeting management.
Gong and Avoma both analyze meetings using AI-powered conversation intelligence tools, but they rely on intrusive bots, lack offline capabilities, and miss key details.
Gong is a very powerful tool with some amazing AI-driven sales insights. It's just that you will need a big budget to pay for it.
Avoma in my experience was as follows: yes it does transcribe and generate AI summaries. But (and this is a big but) the bots who joined my calls made me feel really awkward. Also, I noticed the summary was missing some important information and I had to go back and read the full transcript.
The thing I don't like about both tools is that they don't give you that private bot-less experience you want, and if your internet drops, you're out of luck since neither of these works offline.
That's not ideal if you want flexibility and privacy (which most of us need).
And that's literally why I am so on board with Jamie. No creepy bots, works offline and online both, and you get a personal AI assistant that doesn't bother you.
For all that and more let's get into their features!
Features - Gong vs. Avoma vs. Jamie
TL;DR:
- Jamie provides offline & online transcription, AI-generated summaries, and real-time AI support.
- Gong focuses on AI-powered sales forecasting, revenue intelligence, and call analysis, positioning itself as a leading revenue intelligence platform for sales teams.
- Avoma has real-time transcription, CRM integration and conversation intelligence.

Jamie Features
Meeting Transcription & AI-Generated Notes

Jamie is a native application, which means, you can use it offline, online, or in person. It does not capture audio or video of a meeting. It simply transcribes your meeting.
Once the meeting is concluded, it will produce the transcription by analyzing the audio. Once the transcription is successfully over, it will then, delete the audio.
You will be left with an amazing transcription with time stamps and speaker identification and the best of all is, that you will also get the AI summaries for free with each transcription.
You do not need to have extra credits or purchase any add-ons to get amazing summaries.
Simply wait till the transcription process is over, and you will be given;
- High-quality AI meeting summary with intelligent topic detection
- Tasks and decisions and,
- Participants.
Not only that, you will also get an AI assistant to further interact with your meeting notes. I will now explain that feature next, it is called the Sidebar. Jamie is a native app. You can use it whether you are online or offline. It doesn't capture video or audio recordings of your meetings. Jamie also provides unlimited storage space for all plans, including the free plan.
It just focuses mainly on the transcription and AI meeting summaries. Once your meeting is done, it will go through the audio to create the transcription for you. And once the transcription is done, the meeting audio will be automatically deleted.
So what you get is a super detailed transcription which includes the time stamps and speaker labels. But that's not it. You also get the AI summaries included - all for free.
I want to make this clear because I want you to know this. You don't have to buy extra add-ons or extra credits. You can just wait for the transcription to finish, and you will get:
- A really good AI meeting summary that captures the main topics through advanced topic detection.
- All your action items and decisions are clearly stated (our user favourite).
- A nice list of attendees.
And that's not all. I am going to introduce you to my favourite feature: the Sidebar.
Executive Assistant Sidebar (CTRL + J)

I want to tell you about one of my favourite features - the Executive Assistant Sidebar. You can open the Sidebar using CTRL + J.
I use this feature all the time!
I love how it helps you pull up your past meeting notes without interrupting your flow.
Before it was quite annoying that I had to switch between different apps and browser tabs to search or find the information I wanted. But with Jamie’s Sidebar feature, You no longer have to do that.
You can literally just press CTRL + J and the Sidebar will open up next to you. You just have to type your question in the Sidebar and Jamie will retrieve the information for you, either from past meetings or simple brainstorming.
Jamie’s sidebar also uses different AI models,

- Jamie: You can use Jamie's own LLM to do things like search past meeting notes and brainstorm
- Claude 3 Opus and GPT-4: You can use these to brainstorm, do web searches, or find something specific.
You Can Use Jamie’s Sidebar To:
- You can quickly review key points and action items from past meetings.
- You can retrieve assigned tasks and follow-ups without searching through notes.
- You can look up discussions by keyword, speaker, or topic in seconds.
- You can keep the Sidebar open while working on emails, reports, or proposals.
- You can ask AI questions and get instant answers from past meetings.
- You can refresh your memory before a meeting with a quick summary.
- You can switch between Jamie, GPT-4, or Claude 3 Opus for deeper insights.
- You can copy and share key decisions without downloading full transcripts.
- You can stay organized and manage multiple meetings effortlessly.
The possibilities are endless.
You might also love how everything you need is in one place so you can stay focused and get more done throughout your day (no more tab switching!).
Offline Transcription & Cross-Platform Compatibility

Jamie has the ability to transcribe your meetings whether you are online or offline (yes you read that right!) and it seamlessly works with every video conferencing platform that you throw at it.
Okay, let me explain a little bit.
Jamie is a desktop app that runs on your computer. So technically you can still use it to transcribe meetings even when you are offline. We understand how it can be difficult for you, when you are working in areas with patchy internet connectivity.
Or you are in situations where you need to have in-person meetings. That's why I personally love how Jamie lets you transcribe your meetings from anywhere you work. I think it is a huge plus for me and anyone!
Jamie only listens to what is being played out from the speakers and microphone of your device. And the best part is, there are no bots required (how simple!)
You know what I hate? When a bot joins your meeting.
I have seen people get really uncomfortable because other transcription tools force an AI participant into your calls - its like having a extra person watching you.
I love how Jamie prioritises the human aspect of the meeting. From what I have seen, it remains private and focuses on the thing that matters the most - the real life human conversation. If you are like me, and you don't want creepy bots being in your meetings then I can confidently say that Jamie is for you.
Jamie is the right choice if you:
- Want bot-free, private meeting transcription
- Need offline transcription & real-time assistance
- Prefer an affordable, all-in-one solution
Jamie isn’t the best option if you:
- Need real-time transcription.
- Require video and audio recordings.
- Want advanced sales analytics.
Gong Features
Gong Forecast: AI-Powered Sales Prediction and Insights

Gong’s deal intelligence functionality is powered by the Gong Forecast tool, which uses over 300+ data signals from customer interactions to analyze deal risks and revenue trends. The way it combines buyer engagement patterns, deal progress and historical trends makes sense.
Another fantastic feature that I love is the pressure-testing feature. I found this to be an interactive and really helpful dashboard. You can drill down into your pipeline risk, see which deals are most likely to close and learn how to fix issues before they impact your business.
I have seen sales managers and sales leaders use this to make better decisions around their revenue cycle by leveraging AI-driven insights. This isn't just throwing data at you, it provides you with real-time, actionable insights and guidance you can use immediately. If you're looking to make your revenue more predictable, I think you will find this tool as useful as I did.
Gong Engage: AI-Enhanced Sales Engagement

Gong Engage changes the way you talk to prospects, ensuring that your sales conversations are data-driven and strategically aligned with your pipeline. Instead of sending random messages to prospects, I found that it helps you focus on actually talking to people.
It acts as an assistant which remembers everything. Other tools I've used in the past have only looked at bringing in the leads. But with Gong Engage it's the entire journey.
I personally tested it and I was able to see everything I needed to know about the prospect in one place. So I was able to see what they said in the past, what they're interested in, and even their sentiment towards our product.
It was so much easier to do my job. The AI literally helped me write follow-up emails and sent me reminders when to send follow-up emails. That gave me more time to actually talk to prospects. I found that most useful when I had to personalize my outreach. I wasn't sending "hope you're well" generic emails.
💡Fun fact: Jamie has this ability too. It’s Sidebar feature stores all your past interactions with your clients. And you can simply have a conversation with Jamie to write the best email for the specific client which will have a higher open rate. Because just as much as you know the client, Jamie knows them too (maybe even better).
Gong Data Engine: Automated Data Capture and Revenue Intelligence

Gong Data Engine allows you to automatically capture and map every interaction in your sales team's performance and funnel. This tool automatically collects data from your calls, emails and meetings and keep your data up-to-date, without burning out your sales team.
Gong Data Engine’s advanced mapping and privacy controls has the ability to map all your conversations to the correct contacts, opportunities, and accounts. You get AI-powered insights that you can actually believe.
I also like how they've handled privacy. They have implemented some robust security measures that meet all the global data protection standards. From what I've tested, you get this perfect balance of having visibility to everything you need while keeping your sensitive data safe. It's exactly what you need if you have a sales team that wants everything to be transparent and secure.
Gong is the right choice if you:
- Need AI-driven sales forecasting
- Want deep conversation intelligence
- Are part of a large sales organization
Gong isn’t the best option if you:
- Have a limited budget
- Need offline transcriptions
- Want a solution for general meetings
Here’s a quick comparison table for Gong vs Jamie AI so you can see what features you get from both.

Avoma Features
AI Meeting Assistant

Avoma's AI Meeting Assistant records the meeting and creates a transcript automatically. The AI-generated notes and smart chapters feature are really well-organised and also match the specific meeting templates that I used.
I really appreciate the integration with my CRM - it automatically updates everything from the meeting, so I don't need to copy and paste manually for hours.
Scheduler and Lead Router

Avoma's Scheduler and Lead Router is quite impressive. It will automatically check for the availability preferences of everyone involved so you don't have to do that anymore manually.
I'd like to talk about the lead routing feature, because it is truly impressive. I connected it to my web forms and CRM and it automatically sends leads to the right team members based on the rules I defined.
It also handles all the scheduling issues – when they cancel or need to reschedule – automatically.
Conversation Intelligence

Conversation Intelligence feature of Avoma uses AI to score your calls based on criteria you predefine. This is very useful when you need to track performance from a particular criteria.
I found this very useful when I wanted to improve my pitch. And it made coaching my team much easier as we had data to track.
The real time Answer Assistant let’s you see the answer cards during a meeting. These are helpful suggestions that will pop up on your screen, that tell you the exact answer to give in the call.
I also like that I can track talk patterns and when competitors are being mentioned. I was able to identify customer trends that I wouldn't have noticed otherwise.
I also like that I can set up smart trackers to give me warnings when a deal is at risk of falling out of the pipeline or a customer is at risk of churning. This has helped me make better business decisions and can help you do the same.
Avoma is the right choice if you:
- Need structured meeting management
- Want CRM & dialer integration
- Prefer smart conversation tracking
Avoma isn’t the best option if you:
- Require highly accurate transcripts
- Find AI bots intrusive
- Need a budget-friendly solution

What users love:
- "Everyone on my team is using it."
- "As the founder of a still small boutique management consultancy, time is the most important resource. Using Jamie means that I can focus on my actual work and not waste time setting up meetings, etc. In reality, it even means that Jamie saves me the work of a human assistant (approx. 45k annual salary)."
- "One of the things that really stands out to me about Jamie is how it doesn't rely on bots joining my calls. Given how frequently I switch between different meeting platforms, Jamie's ability to seamlessly work without any plugins is a major plus."
- "Jamie has transformed how I manage meetings. This AI tool excels in creating accurate, concise summaries, allowing me to focus on discussions without worrying about note-taking."

Common complaints:
- "Relatively new tool certainly still has potential for optimization."
- "Jamie excels in creating precise meeting summaries, but it’s worth noting that it shines brightest once it learns your specific terminology. This initial setup, requiring some hands-on input, is a small investment for the tailored accuracy and efficiency it offers in the long run."
- "So far, nothing to complain about. Still exploring."
- "I think maybe they should adjust their pricing a bit, but that's my personal take."
- "Sometimes the transcript may have a few minor hiccups but that's mainly due to the bad audio quality in our meeting room."

- "It's a little slow and sometimes the recorder won't show up!"

Avoma Reviews
G2 rating: 4.6 out of 5

Common complaints:
- "The transcripts arent 100% accurate so i reccoment you read throough to make sure before copying and pasting."
- "The AI summary is superficial and often misses the key points."
- "Sometimes I struggle with the permissions within the tool and grouping calls into appropriate teams so that those who need access get the recordings but also keeping the privacy and security standards maintained at our organization."
- "I find the AI call scoring to be gimicky and provides little value - but that might be because I have not done enough to set up my scoring templates?"
- "I think sometimes its highly innacurate - does not pick up the right notes - or the right person speaking - it does not accurately capture sometimes - and it sometimes misquoting the wrong person on the call. so it becomes a hassle - so it prevents me from trusting it completely kinda countering the whole point of the tool."

Final Verdict: Gong, Fathom, or Jamie?
I spent days testing these AI meeting assistants (I swear, my calendar was full!). And I want to summarize for you what I think of them, so you can choose the right one.
I know that it's not just another tool that you need, it's something that you need to fit your workflow. So, let me summarize my findings about Gong, Avoma, and Jamie.
Gong: Great For Sales Teams, But Not For All
I'll be honest with you – Gong is really great for sales teams. I have seen how its AI-powered forecasting, deal tracking, and conversation analysis can really make a sales team stronger. If you have a sales team and want to know exactly what is going on in your pipeline, I think you will love the sales coaching insights and deal tracking.
But here's the thing (and it's a big thing) – it's not cheap at all.
You're looking at a $5,000 base fee plus $1,600 per user per year (I know, I had to double-check those numbers!).
If you're a startup or consultant, I honestly can't recommend spending this much unless your team absolutely lives and breathes sales data.
Avoma: Structured Meeting Management, But Some Trade-Offs
Avoma is a very structured and methodical meeting management tool in my opinion. And if you like structured things, then Avoma will work well for you.
In fact, I liked how it did real-time transcription, CRM integration and conversation intelligence. I also liked that it does make structured summaries and keeps track of important points.
I need to point out that - Avoma injects AI bots into your calls, which kind of creeped me and my team out. I also found that AI-generated notes are missing key points, so I have to manually edit them before sending them out to my team. If you want spot-on transcripts or don't want any bots in your meetings, then I would recommend looking for alternatives.
Jamie: Bot-Free, Amazing Notes, Flexible, and Built for Any Meeting
Jamie is for everyone, whether you’re in sales, consulting, management or simply looking for a smarter way to capture and organize meetings.

How Can Jamie Help with Sales?
