What is Notta AI?
Notta AI is an AI transcription tool designed to transcribe and translate audio and video content into text.
It supports multiple languages and can handle various audio and video files efficiently. Notta AI converts spoken words and transcribed files into text quickly and accurately.
Users can upload recordings or capture live speech, and Notta AI converts this content into written form quickly and with high accuracy. It’s commonly used for creating meeting notes, interview transcripts, and summaries of conversations.
How Notta AI Works
Notta identifies the links that are placed in your calendar. Suppose you have a meeting link on the calendar. Notta then identifies and joins the meeting
Notta also allows you to upload an audio file, video recording, or capture live speech for transcription.
If you want more control over when you want the Notta bot to join the meeting, you can toggle “Auto-join calendar events“ off.
You also have the option to select whether you want Notta to join all your meetings or only the meetings that you have created. Notta AI offers basic features suitable for casual or personal use.
There’s also an option for you to toggle off the automatic note sharing if you don’t want those notes to be shared automatically.
Let’s see it in action.
For Online Meetings (without Chrome extension)
Step 1
On the right-hand side of the screen, you will be presented with these four options.
For this test, we will be selecting the "Record online meeting" option.
Step 2
Add your meeting link to the meeting invite link section.
Like so;
Notta is requesting that you download the Chrome extension to get a better experience, but first, let's see the experience without it.
You can also expand the "Advanced Options" to customize your meeting experience further.
Option 1: Naming of your bot
You have the option to name your bot. Unfortunately for Google meetings, the name of your bot cannot be changed.
Option 2: Show recording notification poster
This is where Notta informs your attendees that Notta will be transcribing your audio or video files.
It kind of gives off the vibe of an emergency broadcast screen, like below.
It's a bit intrusive, in my opinion.
Let's see how it looks when it joins the meeting,
There you go; it's not as intrusive or panicky as an emergency broadcasting screen; however, personally, I would quite feel awkward talking freely.
Option 3: Real-time translation
You also have the option to select a language you want the transcription to be translated into. Notta identifies 58 languages in total. Which is a good feature to have. Especially when dealing with diverse teams or clients.
Option 4: Video Transcription for online meetings
There's also an option for you to record videos for online meetings, which is only available if you have a business plan.
Step 3
After you customize according to your preferred meeting experience, you can now click on the "Transcribe Now" button.
And then you will see the Notta bot arriving at the meeting. Here's how it looks when it is in the lobby:
Click on Admit.
And Notta bot will join your meetings just like this. It does look like a broadcast image. And can be quite intrusive. It says,
"Your meeting will be recorded and transcribed by Notta, so you can focus on the conversation."
But all I can focus on is this screen.
Personally, I would feel more flustered to talk than to talk freely.
After that, the audio will be automatically transcribed in real-time on Notta's website.
To be more specific, a generated transcript of it will play in the background on the website while you are speaking with attendees, so you will not see it during the meeting.
After the meeting is over, you will be welcomed to this screen.
All in all, I think it's a pretty good and advanced AI transcription tool.
The real-time transcription does lack spelling and wording. But it's quite minute.
The summary is also provided in a nicely organized manner, with citations to where the information was given.
You are also given the voice play tray, where you can play the audio recorded by Notta.
Please visit this article, which compares the accuracy of Notta's notes to those of Jamie, Fireflies, Otter.ai, and Tactiq, for a thorough analysis of transcription accuracy.
⚠️ Spoiler alert: Notta's Transcription and Summary accuracy came in 3rd place. You can check the challenge here.
For Online Meetings (with Chrome extension),
After downloading Notta's Chrome extension, we are welcomed to this screen.
Once you click transcribe live meetings now, you will be redirected to the Google Meet website. where you can create a meeting or an instant meeting to check how the Chrome extension truly works. And that's exactly what I did too.
I created an instant meeting so that I could test the Chrome extension.
Here's what it looks like. You can start recording by clicking Notta's start recording button on the bottom tray.
After that, the procedure is similar to prior steps, without the Chrome extension. You admit it in and Notta transcribes for you.
